Libya/South Africa: Libya Wants to Wrench the Organization Out of South Africa

This is what said Awad al-Baraassi, the Libyan Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the High Committee for the organization of Afcon 2017. He stressed his country's determination to organize this event, which is marking the 60th anniversary of the competition.

In January, a delegation was in South Africa to gain experience in terms organization.

Afcon 2013 should be organized by Libya. But the edition was awarded to South Africa because of social and political unrest that followed the death of Muammar Gaddafi.

As a result, the rainbow country that was to organize the 2017 edition can expect fierce competition.

Several countries, including the DRC, are also in the race to host the Afcon 2019.
