Tunisia: Means to Boost Tunisian-French Relations Discussed

Carthage — Tunisian-French relations and preparations for President François Hollande's visit to Tunisia were the focus of President Moncef Marzouki's meeting on Thursday in Tunis, with Minister Delegate to the French Foreign Minister, in charge of Development Pascal Canfin.

Mr. Canfin said that his visit to Tunisia is part of the preparations for President Hollande's visit next May to Tunisia, to give a new boost to the excellent relations between the two countries.

France is closely following the development of the transition process in Tunisia, which "is a model that the whole world would like it to succeed," he said, pointing to the imperative to reach a consensus between all partners to get through the current stage without a hitch.

The meeting was an occasion to discuss issues of mutual interest, notably the repercussions of the Mali crisis on the region and the Syrian issue, more particularly after giving a seat to the Syrian Opposition Coalition in the Arab League at the 24th Arab Summit, March 26-27 in Doha.
