Liberians Denounce Violence Ahead of Planned Demonstration

A cross-session of citizens in Nimba County have denounced in the strongest term plan by some civil society groups to stage a demonstration in Monrovia on April 12 this year. The citizens told independent journalists in Ganta and Tappita that any demonstration calling for a regime change is unconstitutional and has the propensity to degenerate into chaos that could lead to destruction of lives and properties.

The Nimba citizens said historically the month of April is a turbulence one, reminding the Liberian people about April 14, 1979, April 12, 1980 and April 6, 1996 which were all marked by violence and the destruction of lives and properties.
