Kenya: Bomet Teachers Want State to Help the Fight HIV/Aids

THE Kenya National Union of Teachers has asked the education ministry to create a department to help fight HIV/Aids in the teaching fraternity. Bomet branch acting executive secretary Malel Langat said the department will give teachers proper skills to use when talking to their students about HIV/Aids.

Speaking to the Star yesterday Langat said it is important for teachers to understand the legal aspect of the disease. "Aids awareness among Kenyans is high and the state should devolve funds to the county level. This will boost the fight against discrimination and stigma among teachers," he said.
