Egypt/Kenya: Ahly Is Capable of Winning Again - Metaeb

Alexandria's Burg El Arab Stadium will be the venue this Sunday for the 2013 Orange CAF Champions League first round return leg between title holders Al Ahly of Egypt and Kenya's Tusker. The Cairo giants won the first leg 2-1 at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi a fortnight ago. Striker Emad Metaeb scored a brace for Al Ahly to end a long goal drought. Metaeb told Cafonline.com that he and his teammates have put behind them the first leg result and that they're ready to complete the double over Tusker on Sunday.

"Al Ahly is a team that plays to win every game, regardless who is our opponent", Metaeb said. "Winning the first leg away doesn't mean we already qualified to the next round. There's still a game to be played on Sunday and we have to do our best to win and guarantee an eighth finals spot. Our ambition is to keep our title as the champions, but we'll take it one game at a time. This is our strategy in Al Ahly".

The 30 year old striker said he and his mates respect Tusker but they will play to win. "We play every game with only victory on our minds. Tusker is a good team and we respect them, but regardless of any names we just play to win. We want to make our faithful fans happy by reaching the next round".

Meteaeb admitted he's thrilled by getting back on the score sheets after a long absence when he scored a brace against Tusker, and continued to score on the domestic league. "I'm a striker; my job is to score goals. Definitely I felt a bit worried when I didn't score for a number of matches, but this happens everywhere. I never lost confidence and kept trying. Ironically I returned with a brace in Nairobi against Tusker. In 2006 I scored a brace there against Tusker too when we won 2-0 and we eventually won the title that year. I hope this could be a good omen and we finish as eventual winners this year", Metaeb added.

Meateab who won the club's premier club championship 4 times before with Al Ahly said his team is capable of winning and reaching the next round. "Despite the difficult circumstances the Egyptian football faced we won the Champions League last year and had some good games in the FIFA Club World Cup. Recently our U-20 team won the African Youth Championship. I hope to complete this good streak and put a smile on our supporters' faces", he concluded.

Al Ahly against Tusker kicks off at 19:00 local time at the Alexandria Burg El Arab Stadium.
