Nigeria: Jonathan, Ekweremadu Hail Mark At 65

President Goodluck Jonathan and Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu yesterday extolled the virtues of Senate President David Mark who attained the age of 65.

In a congratulatory note, Jonathan was quoted by NAN to have extolled Mark's "exceptional patriotism in leading the legislature into productive partnership with the executive."

For his part, Ekweremadu said in a congratulatory letter that the Senate President "has not only served the nation in many capacities, but has also done so with distinction."

He added: "I salute your courage in leadership; your capacity to be firm and fair and to act without fear or favour marks you out as an uncommon leader. I salute your unequivocal commitment to the preservation as well as the growth of our democracy and extol your servant-leader dispositions which have guided the Senate and National Assembly on the path of honour, stability, and legislative independence and best practices."
