Namibia: Suspected Drug Lord Wants Bail

Windhoek — A suspected drug dealer who was arrested during a sting operation last week applied for bail in the Windhoek Magistrate's Court, but will only know whether he will be released on bail today.

Charlton Blaauw, alias Shoetas, was allegedly caught with 10 units of crack cocaine and 2.5g of cocaine during an undercover operation involving the Chief of the Drug Law Enforcement Unit, Deputy Commissioner Hermie van Zyl. The drugs have an estimated street value of N$2 250. The State opposes bail on the grounds that while out on bail for previous offences involving cocaine, Blaauw kept on plying his trade.
