press release

The IFP calls on the Public Protector to urgently investigate the alleged running of businesses by ANC cadres at Tshwane Hostels in Gauteng.

IFP Spokesperson on Human Settlements, Mr Petros Sithole,MP, said "Our local leaders have confirmed that in Sausiville hostel ANC cadres are running a motor-vehicle car panel-beating business and are residing in rooms allocated for the poor and indigent. ANC aligned professional teachers and the children of former ANC councillors are also residents. Furthermore, bribes are being paid for the supply of free electricity to some of the rooms. It is reported that Block, I, J and K are receiving free electricity."

"Besides the Sausiville hostel, we are also extremely concerned about the Mamelodi Hostel where people were moved out of the hostel as construction work was about to commence but up and until now nothing has happened," concluded Sithole.

The IFP calls on the Office of the Public Protector, the MEC for Human Settlements in Gauteng and the Mayor of Tshwane to urgently conduct investigations into this matter.
