South Africa: President Jacob Zuma Extends Employment of South African National Defence Force (SANDF) Members in International Waters

President Jacob Zuma has, in terms of section 201(2)(c) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996, extended the employment of Members of the Regular Force and the Reserve Force of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) for service in Mozambican and Tanzanian waters, as well as in international waters to monitor and deter piracy activities along the Southern African coast of the Indian Ocean from 1 April 2013 to 31 March 2014.

Two Hundred and Twenty (220) members of the SANDF were deployed for the period 26 November 2012 to 31 March 2013 to monitor and deter piracy along the coast.
