Namibia: Pricing of Poultry Defended? Think Quality Says Ferreira

Windhoek — Despite the unhappiness of consumers with the current pricing of local poultry products by retailers, Namibia Poultry Industries (NPI) maintain their products are priced on par with South African products.

NPI insists its poultry prices are by far the cheapest in the market. Responding to a question at a news conference yesterday in Windhoek, CEO of Namib Mills Investment, the parent company of NPI, Koos Ferreira, said it is unfair of Namibian consumers to expect locally produced chicken products to be cheaper than those imported from elsewhere. He said a survey undertaken by NPI in February proved beyond doubt that Namibian produced chicken products are of exceptional quality and the prices on par with South African products.
