NAMIBIA’S most comprehensive and reliable labour force survey to date has officially pinned the broad unemployment rate in the country at 27,4%, a figure Statistician General John Steytler yesterday described as “very high”.
Releasing the Namibia Labour Force Survey (NLFS) 2012, Steytler said Namibians “shouldn’t read too much” into the new rate, as it meant that 238 174 of the country’s economically active work force of 868 268 were jobless last October when the survey was conducted.
