Angola: Human Rights Watch Researcher Detained In Luanda

Agents of the National Police detained, early Thursday afternoon, Human Rights Watch researcher, Lisa Rimli, in the resettlement area of Kaop-Funda in Luanda.

Lisa Rimli was investigating the mass evictions, which involved a military operation that forcibly removed more than 5,000 people from the residential neighbourhood of Mayombe in the Cacuaco municipality of Luanda, on 1 February 2013.

Escorted by two vehicles, one from the fire brigade and the other from the National Police, officers drove Lisa Rimli to the municipal command of the National Police in Cacuaco, where she is currently being questioned.
