Rwanda: Nyarugenge District To Improve Conditions Of Genocide Survivors

Nyarugenge district on Wednesday commemorated the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsis at Nyamirambo regional stadium. Among the issues during the debates were the construction of the remaining houses for widows and orphans of the Genocide and the failure to implement decisions taken by by Gacaca courts in June 2012 related to property.

"There is no doubt about what we have so far achieved, however there are 70 more houses that remain to be constructed for widows and orphans," said the head of Ibuka in the district, Gilbert Rutayisire Masengo. He suggested that they could be located in Nyamirambo.
