On Friday, April 12, U.S Ambassador Michael Raynor and USAID Director Kevin Armstrong presided over the official launch of a partnership between the Government of Benin and the U.S. Government aimed to help Benin achieve its objective of eliminating neglected tropical diseases by 2020. Many authorities attended this event including Benin's Minister of Health, Mrs. Dorothée Kinde Gazard, and Marci Van Dyke, Technical Advisor at USAID/Washington.
"I have high hopes for this partnership and its impact here in Benin," said Ambassador Raynor in his welcoming remarks. "Every Beninese citizen deserves a healthy life and the opportunity to realize his or her full potential. May our collective efforts fighting to prevent and treat neglected tropical diseases make that possible."
