Uganda: Col Mugyenyi Sues Over Torture

A senior UPDF officer, has put the conduct of the institution he serves under the spotlight by claiming that he was psychologically tortured in Makindye military police barracks. Col Fenekansi Mugyenyi also claims that he was held incommunicado inside a Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) safe house.

Mugyenyi, formerly 4 Division Commander, was due to leave for Somalia as the new commander of the Uganda Battle Group 11 (UGABAG). But on March 22 he was arrested for allegedly kidnapping a fugitive commander of a rebel group fighting the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
