Uganda: Taso Founder, Walukagga Honoured As Kabaka Marks 58th Birthday

For her contribution to the fight against HIV/Aids and care for people infected and affected by the scourge, The Aids Support Organization (TASO) founder, Dr Noerine Wanyana Kaleeba, received an award from Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, as he celebrated his 58th birthday at the Mengo Lubiri (palace) on Saturday.

Kaleeba was awarded alongside Kadongokamu singer Mathias Walukagga, recognized for his songs that the organizing committee chairman Dr Masagazi Masaazi said had transformed society. This birthday party is the first to be celebrated at the palace, since the 1966 attack on the Lubiri that led to the abolition of kingdoms.
