INCREASED smuggling of agriculture commodities has negatively affected the country's tax base, deputy Agriculture Minister Rodgers Mwewa has said.
Mr Mwewa said of late the country had seen a rise in smuggling of agriculture commodities the move he said was posing serious threats to the food security of the country which was also losing money through tax avoidance.He said that in as much as Zambia was an active member of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) were trading was free at same point smuggling should not be encouraged as it was reducing the tax base of member states.
