Kenya: Bandari Fans Demand Return of 'Sacked' Coach Shedu

22 April 2013

BANDARI FC fans now want coach Rishad Shedu back even as there are clear indications the man who struggled to bring the Kenya Ports Authority sponsored club into the Kenya Premier League has been fired. The fans chanted slogans of "twamtaka Shedu" at the match against KCB which the coastals won 1-0. Shedu, apparently was advised to form a junior team at a half of his current salary to remain on the KPA payroll or elect to leave.

The Bandari management board has apparently been put under pressure by a group led by acting coach Twahir Muhidin to have Shedu leave and the decision to pay Shedu half-pay if he agrees to form a junior team was a move in that decision. A disappointed Shedu said: "I have written to them declining the offer of forming a junior team because it goes against our agreement signed last season," Shedu also said Bandari declined to pay his Sh 150,000 medical bill after incurring the injury while on club duty. "The insurance cover paid Sh 62, 000 only. I paid the rest and they are refusing to refund me yet I got injured whi;le performing my official duties."
