Kenya: Three Communities Wrangle Over Chepchoina Scheme

Anxiety is brewing at Chepchoina Settlement Scheme in Trans Nzoia in a fight over land ownership between two communities. While squatters claim a share of the Agricultural Development Cooperation land, others feel they are the rightful beneficiaries.

According to leaders from Pokot County led by Kapenguria MP Samuel Moroto, some leaders in Trans-Nzoia imported their cousins from Uganda who have been resettled in the land at the expense of genuine squatters.
