Tanzania: 14 Houses Destroyed in Lindi Riot Over Cashew Prices

At least 14 houses were destroyed this week as cashew nut farmers in Tanzania's Lindi region rioted over what they consider inadequate compensation for their crop, Tanzania's Daily News reported Thursday (April 25th).

Inspector General of Police Saidi Mwema dispatched a team of senior police officers led by acting Director of Criminal Investigation Isaya Mngulu to investigate the incident, determine those involved and estimate the damage of properties.
