Somalia: General Abas - the Security Situation in Kismayu Is Deteriorating

Kismayu (s.M.Network) general Cabas Mohamed Diriye who is the commander of the Somali military in Gedo and Juba regions arrived at the head quarter city of Kismayu yesterday. After his arrival, he said that there was rising insecurity in the city and the residents face constant killings and robberies.

Mr. Abas added that gun fire is heard day and night, terrorizing the public and causing fear among the residents who live in the city.

The general said that the security in the city should be restored back and the main reason why he visited the city was to order security officials to restore law and order in the city.

Mr. Abas said that a large number of government troops have arrived in the city and others were on their way to the city. He said that these troops will start a security mission in the city and take action against the culprits who robe and kill the members of the public.

The general concluded by requesting the Raskamboni brigade to cooperate with the government troops in restoring back security.
