Eritrea: Inhabitants of Mendefera Sub-Zone Engage in Soil and Water Conservation Campaign

Mendefera — The Agriculture Ministry's branch in the Southern region indicated that the inhabitants of 15 Administrative areas of Mendefera sub-zone are engaged in soil and water conservation campaign through integrating their labor and financial resources.

Mr. Mekonen Fiseha, soil and water conservation expert at the branch office, disclosed that the undertaking involves construction of terraces and water catchment walls, besides preparation of farmland and removal of sedimentary deposits from micro-dams. He further pointed out that around 3,000 cubic meters of water catchment walls and 35 Km. of terraces have been constructed on the basis of the popular undertaking.
