Nigeria: Taraba to Probe Wukari, Ibi Crisis

Jalingo — Taraba State acting governor, Alhaji Garba Umar, yesterday inaugurated a seven man judicial commission of inquiry into the crisis in Wukari and Ibi Local Government Areas of the state.

Umar mandated members of the commission to among others, ascertain the causes of the crisis in the two local councils and recommend sanctions as well as the way forward. The commission is expected to ascertain the level of damage in the two councils and come up with measures of compensation as well as sanctions to the parties involved. He urged the commission to hold public hearings in the two councils and also investigate the roles of both religious and traditional rulers in the crisis with a view to recommend appropriate sanctions.
