Kenya: Six Deny Sh6.7million G4S Robbery

SIX suspected thugs who allegedly robbed a G4S vehicle on transit from Busia to Kisumu yesterday denied the robbery with violence charges before a Siaya court.

Appearing before Siaya resident magistrate Jared Sani, Danson Gitume, George Muoki, Moses Sunguti, Calistas Soita, Solom Simukhu and Constant Oduor Odhiambo were accused that on April 30, along Busia-Kisumu road, they robbed constable Evans Odari at gun-point of Sh6.7 million before wounding him and taking his G3 rifle plus ammunition all valued at Sh96,000.

They were denied bond and were remanded for a week to enable police continue with investigations.

Their lawyers Charles Ochieng said the case ought to have been heard before Ukwala law courts not Siaya since the incident occurred within the precincts of Ukwala.

Magistrate Sani explained that the defendants took their plea at Siaya Law Courts since Ukwala was not in session.

He said the case will be heard on May 9 at Ukwala law courts.
