Kenya: Rustlers Order Ugali to Be Cooked, Kill Boy in Laikipia

Armed cattle rustlers raided a home in Laikipia and ordered the family to cook them Ugali.The gang of more than 10 rustlers stole 46 cows from the Igwamiti home of Nyahururu businessman David Kamunya.

"They were not in a hurry. Some ordered my workers to cook for them at gunpoint while another group outside selected the animals of their choice before they fled towards Baringo county," Kamunya said.

The bandits, who were all armed with AK 47 rifles, shot several times in the air to scare workers then bundled them into one of the farm buildings. They escaped with the livestock after torturing the workers for 30 minutes.A group of officers led by Nyahururu AP boss Daniel Masaba pursued the gang to Marigat.

A 24-year-old man was killed during the chase."The rustlers seized the man and other villagers inside Marigat Forest, ordered them to lie down and later shot him. He died on the spot," Masaba said.

Police recovered 26 cows in the forest after a fierce shootout."We spotted them in the forest. That's when the an exchange of fire took place. We recovered the livestock after overpowering the criminals," he added.
