Nigeria: Babalola, Shehu to Lead Nigeria's Search for Davis Cup Glory

Abdul-Mumini Babalola, Lawal Shehu, Clifford Enosoregbe, Henry Atseye and Benson Isichen have been picked by the Nigeria Tennis Federation to represent the country at theGroup 111 of Africa Davis Cup Championship slated for Egypt next week.

The Outdoor clay event, would see Team Nigeria battle for one of the two slots against hosts Egypt, Algeria, Botswana, Cameroon, Cote d´Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Morocco, Namibia, Rwanda, Zambia and Zimbabwe in a round-robin format.

The format will have 14 countries in four pools and will see Nigeria get promoted as one of the top nations in pools A and B drawn to play off against top nations in pools C and D. The two winning nations will advance to play in the Europe/Africa Zone Group II for 2014.

The Davis Cup Championship is slated for Cairo, Egypt from May 13 to 18 at the Smash Tennis Academy in the North African country.

The team has undergone intense training at the Ibadan Recreation Club in readiness for the tournament.
