More than 60 former fighters of the rebel Allied Democratic Front (ADF) in Lwengo district have protested the unfair arrest of a colleague.
The furious men had kept a low profile since their release from jail in 2000 and 2001 under a government amnesty deal. However, they broke their silence after their colleague, Sheikh Muhammad Mbaziira, was arrested two months ago, for allegedly mobilizing youths to join terrorism activities. According to police, Mbaziira, now held at Masaka police station, was picked from a madrasa for teaching suspected terrorist ideologies to children.
