Kenya: AFC Leopards Coach Eymael Ready to Taste First Kenyan Derby

AFC Leopards coach Luc Eymael has exuded confidence ahead of his first taste of the Kenyan derby pitting his side against Gor Mahia at Nyayo stadium on Sunday.

Eymale, whose Leopards side have been training at the Marist grounds in Karen, said he was taking the game like just any other and his focus was to get a first league win under the belt regardless of the opponents.

"I know there has been plenty of build up especially among the fans about this game but we are taking it like any opther game that is worth three points. We want to go to the game and get the win no matter who the opponents are," said Leopards Belgian.

The match should be of more significance to Ingwe given that they have not won a match since Eymale took over in March and they are slowly slipping out of the picture in the race for this years' league crown.

However, Eymale remains upbeat that a positive result is not beyond them against Gor. "I am positive that if our players can rise up to the occasion and give their all, then there is no reason why we shouldn't win against Gor," remarked Eymale .

Last Sunday's defeat to Nairobi City Stars left a bitter taste in the mouth for Eyamle after what he described as a very good week in training. But with leopards having shifted their training venue to the quiet neighbourhood of Karen, Eyamel will be hopeful that his players have internalized all the good work they have put in ahead of what is expected to be a crunch tie against Kogallo.

"We talked to the players on Monday and reminded them of their obligation to the team. We hope they have put that in their thought ahead of Sunday's game. The coach's work is to prepare the team. The rest is left to the players to carry out on the field of play," observed Eymale.

"We wasted many chances to win the game against City Stars and I hope that will not repeat itself in the future," he noted. Leopards have 11 points form their 10 games so far while Kogallo have 14 points from seven games.
