Liberia: Maritime Finally Runs to Supreme Court

The Liberia Maritime Authority (LMA) has appealed before the Supreme Court of Liberia, sitting in its October Term, after Civil Law Court Judge Boima Kontoe confirmed jurors' unanimous guilty verdict on Monday against the institution. Judge Kontoe confirmed the verdict after he denied the defendants retrial motion on Monday, May 13, 2013, noting that the motion lacks factual foundation.

The Civil Law Court has also jointly held LMA's Commissioner for Inland Waterways K0au Joseph, and Cadets Supervisor Fred Bass Golokeh, as well as the institution liable, for the death of the late cadets Patrick Ansumana, George Kaba Reed, Eddie Wilson and Henry Bryant on September 27, 2012.
