It is a slimmer yet stronger phone which Zambian customers would be purchasing from all Zamtel flagship outlets in Lusaka, Kitwe, Livingstone and Chipata.

Speaking at a signing ceremony of the partnership in Lusaka yesterday, Zamtel chief executive officer Mupanga Mwanakatwe said the arrangement would present an opportunity for Zambians to access the latest and most innovative technology.

"Our strategic partnership with Samsung has now made it possible for Zamtel subscribers to gain access to the latest offerings from Samsung through our flagship stores at affordable and highly competitive prices," Dr Mwanakatwe said.

He said Zamtel was the only total communication company in the country and was, therefore, committed to taking leadership in ensuring that customers were always able to obtain the latest cutting-edge technology.

The devices would be offered pre-activated for third generation (3G)/data and digital satellite television (DStv) mobile.

Samsung vice-president and chief operating officer for Africa, George Ferreira said Samsung was proud to partner with the only total communication solution company.

Mr Ferreira said the new partnership would result in bringing the latest technology to the country especially that Samsung was a global leader in mobile electronics.

"The partnership will result in bringing the latest technology and as Samsung we are optimistic that consumers will embrace the new Galaxy S4 looking at the pre-orders Zambian customers had been making since the launch in South Africa two weeks ago," Mr Ferreira said.

He disclosed that Samsung had projected to be a US$10 billion business entity in Africa looking at the potential the continent possessed.
