Liberia: Public Works Suspends Issuance of Building Permits for Time Indefinite

The Minister of Public Works, Attorney Samuel Kofi Woods, has with immediate effect announced the suspension of all building permits for time indefinite. Minister Woods has also called on all persons carrying on building construction to "immediately" halt the process, or else they will be dealt with "drastically" by the Ministry of Public Works. He said the Ministry through its Engineering Department will carry on a review process of all permits before granting building permits to any individuals.

"I am not happy at all about erratic buildings around this city. They are in places where they are not supposed to be. This is totally unacceptable," said Minister Woods. "As I say, and I restate, all permits for building are suspended. Anyone, who violates our order, will be dealt with accordingly," he stated.
