Nigeria: Aviation Workers Call Off Strike as Airlines Cancel Flights

Except for skeletal services, major activities in the airspace and communications management were Monday shut down as the workers of the Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) and the aviation unions observed industrial action for about eight hours, leading to delays and cancelation of flights until the strike was called off by 3.30p.m.

The workers unions carried out their threats to shut down the airspace over the non-implementation of the newly approved salary scale endorsed by the National Salary and Wages Commission (NSWC), but yesterday, the union leaders met with the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Emeka Nwogu, in Abuja and after deliberations, they agreed to call off the strike.
