This morning the Select Committee on Public Service reconvened to reconsider the National Transport Laws and Related Matters Amendment Bill (e-Toll Bill) after objections by my colleague, DA MP Herman Groenewald, on the unacceptable procedures of the previous committee meeting.
I called on the Chairperson of the Committee, Mtikeni Sibande, to allow for extensive public hearings in all nine provinces before finalising the Bill in the committee, given the significant public interest. This was again refused without any sufficient reasons being provided.
