South Africa well represented in CAF committees South Africa will continue to make huge contribution to the development and administration of football on the African continent with several members serving on Confederation of African Football (CAF)'s various committees.

CAF released the list of its various committees earlier this week. The committees are responsible for taking the lead and giving direction in their various areas of operation.

Acting SAFA Technical Director Fran Hilton-Smith will serve as a member in the Technical and Development Committee while SAFA President Kirsten Nematandani and his Vice-President Dr Danny Jordaan will serve as members in the Organising Committee for the Orange Africa Cup of Nations.

Vice-Presidents Chief Mwelo Nonkonyana and Mandla 'Shoes' Mazibuko have also received a nod from the continental body and will serve in different portfolios.

Chief Nonkonyana will serve as a member in the Organising Committee for the African Nations Championship, giving him a huge opportunity to have a great input in the forthcoming CHAN to be staged in South Africa next year.

Meanwhile, Mazibuko will also serve as a member in the Organising Committee for Management of CAF Club Licensing System.

Former SAFA President Dr. Molefi Oliphant has been co-opted to serve as a member in the CAF Executive Committee. In addition to that, he will also sit on various other committees while also serving as president of the Organising Committee for Women's Football. He will be joined by Nastacia Tschiclas, who serves as a member in that committee.

Premier Soccer League chairman Dr Irvin Khoza will serve as a member in the Organising Committee for the Interclub Competitions while SAFA legal committee chair, Poobalan Govindasamy is on the Committee for Legal Affairs. Former SAFA CEO, Raymond Hack will serve as president on the Disciplinary Board.

This is a vote of confidence from CAF and recognition for the leading role South Africa is playing in the development of the game on the continent.

"I firmly believe South Africa has a major role to play in the renaissance of the game on the African continent and the various faces on different committees are testimony to this. This is our continent and no one can develop it for us. We need to do it ourselves," said SAFA President Kirsten Nematandani.
