Kenya: Nyeri House in Uproar Over Sakaja Letter
24 May 2013
A letter purpotedly written by TNA chairman Johnson Sakaja had the Nyeri county assembly in an uproar on Wednesday. Speaker Mwangi Mugo tabled the letter at the floor of the House but some members opposed the move saying "these are party matters that should not be brought to the House".
More than 10 representa- tives shot up saying they will not be "remote controlled" by TNA since the house has members from other parties. The letter whose contents were not revealed was meant to ease tension in the House.
It came after Majority Leader Mwangi Kibuu with other members plotted to oust six TNA county representatives from their committees 'for being errant.' Chinga ward representative James Mwangi Ngiria said the only ones who can give orders in the house are the Speaker and the Governor. Sakaja said he is not aware of the letter.
