Liberia: Heavy Storm Destroys Homes in Buchanan - Homeless, Distraught Send Out SOS Plea

Hundreds of families have been left homeless in Buchanan (Grand Bassa County) after a heavy storm destroyed over 30 buildings and injured at least ten people on Saturday, May 25.

The storm destroyed mainly the roof of homes in Pearchuzon, Fantee town, Tarbar, Corn farm, Old field, Gorhzon, Millionaire quarter and several other communities in Buchanan City. Pearchuzon, located in the New Buchanan residential area just around the old flour mill was the most affected, with more than 30 houses losing their roof. Some businesses were also affected, causing shop owners to lose their goods. A police source said one business man has asked for their assistance in the recovering of mattresses that were blown away by the storm.
