Swapo Party Pioneers Movement Oshana regional leader Indileni Iipinge is appealing to parents to encourage their children to join the Swapo Party's Pioneers Movement at a tender age in order to become patriotic Namibians.
He said children will not only get to understand politics at a very young age, but they will also learn history and how to be patriotic about their country. "The pioneers movement organisations exist worldwide. Countries like Cuba, Russia, Finland and many other countries have pioneer movements," said Iipinge.
Speaking during a press conference held at the party's Oshana regional office, Iipinge who is also a member of the Central Committee of the Swapo Party Youth League (SPYL) thanked those parents who took their children to a public lecture delivered by the founding president Dr Sam Nujoma.
In order to ensure that the Father of the Namibian Nation, Dr Sam Nujoma's public lecture reaches its intended audience, Iipinge said copies of the lecture will be available at the party's regional office in thr Oshana Region, as well as the ten districts of the party in the region.
"Those of you who attended the 12 May Movement event [at Onawa ya Kiliana at Okatana Constituency], saw that it was indeed the children or pioneers who introduced the leader of the Namibian revolution, Dr Sam Nujoma," Iipinge said. During the press conference, Iipinge and SPYL Regional Coordinator Matilde Nakwedhi described the 12 May Movement event held in Oshana last Sunday as a success, because of the hard work, patriotism and the spirit of volunteerism by the youth in the Oshana Region, as well as the business community.
"Not only was the event well attended by our party and national leaders, and fellow Namibians, but very importantly, the presence and keynote address by His Excellency, Dr Hifikepunye Pohamba, and the presence of the Prime Minister the Right Honourable Dr Hage Geingob, made the event even more successful," he said.
"Not to forget the attendance and presence of our SPYL Secretary Comrade Dr Elijah Ngurare, his deputy Cde Veikko Nekundi and all members and leaders of SPYL at different levels from all the 13 regions," said Iipinge.
