Kenya: Wanted Terror Suspect Shot Dead in Mombasa

Anti-terrorism police officers yesterday shot dead a wanted terror suspect at Kwa Bulo in Mombasa's Kisauni area and recovered a cache of weapons. Khalid Ahmed was trailed by the officers from Nairobi and killed in a shoot-out at his home.

Head of anti-terrorism unit Boniface Mwaniki said Ahmed, a Somalia national, had sneaked into the country from after undergoing paramilitary training. Two anti-terrorism police officers were injured during the shoot-out but are in stable condition at Pandya Hospital in Mombasa. The police recovered a hand grenade, gun and two magazines loaded with 60 rounds of ammunition from the house.
