With a few more days to go down to the much awaitedreturn leg clash between the Scorpions of the Gambia against the Elephant of Ivory Coast, a team of local based players are currently training at the Gambia Football Federation FIFA Goal Project in Yundum.

The trainings, conducted in the morning session, are facilitated by team coach Mancini with his assistant Bonu Johnson and the rest of the coaching staff.

Selected local-based players from the team currently in training will join the Gambian players invited from abroad for the World Cup qualifiers crunch game.

The Gambian footballers abroad are expected to jet in Banjul sometime next week, an official source has revealed.

The Scorpions prepare to host the Elephants after succumbing to a 3-0 defeat to the African football powerhouse in Abidjan in March.

The Elephants who are currently top of Group C with 7 points are set on booking a ticket to the World Cup qualifiers for the third consecutive time after appearing in the 2006 World Cup in Germany for the first time and in 2010 in South Africa.

The Elephants are expected in Banjul without fancied favorite Didier Drogba, who, together with Kolo Toure, is set to miss both legs of the qualifiers following his omission from coach Sabri Lamouchi squad.

The group is tightly contested by Tanzania who are on six points, just a single point separating them with the Elephants.

The Taifa Stars will play away to Morocco on June 8 after beating the North Africans 3-1 at home.

Morocco are third-placed with 2 points and the Scorpions, who are at the bottom of the table, have just got a point in a draw against the North Africans in Banjul.
