Tunisia: NCA Ends Constitution Drafting

Bardo — The National Constituent Assembly (NCA) ended the new Constitution drafting after sixteen-month works and three drafts.

NCA Speaker and Chairman of the joint Commission of the Constitution Co-ordination and Drafting Mustapha Ben Jaafar said, on Saturday, at the end of the commissions' works, that the draft constitution will be submitted shortly, to the President of the Republic and Prime Minister and it will be presented during a plenary session, fifteen days later.

For her part, NCA First Deputy-Speaker Meherzia Labidi announced, on Saturday, at the end of the plenary session devoted to the government's interrogation, that NCA Speaker signed, on Saturday, the draft Constitution in its last version.

The latter will be printed, distributed on each deputy, posted on the Assembly's website and submitted to the constituent commissions to work out their reports, she added.
