Tripoli — The International Criminal Court's (ICC) pre-trial chamber has rejected Libya's request to try Saif al-Islam, the son of the country's late leader Muammar Gadhafi.

In the latest sign of a growing divide, the International Criminal Court on Friday rejected Libya's bid to try Saif al-Islam Gadhafi and asked the nation to hand him over.

Saif al-Islam, who is being held by authorities in the mountain city of Zintan, has been indicted by the ICC for alleged war crimes committed during the revolution that toppled his father.

Libya has consistently challenged the ICC's demand to try Gadhafi, saying the Hague-based court does not have jurisdiction in the case.
