Africa: 18 African Countries to Give Farmers Weather, Rainfall Information

Making information on weather and rainfall pattern, as well as effective and professional control of dams to guard against flood, will greatly enhance agricultural production and reduce cases of unwanted destruction of farmlands, a meeting of meteorologists from 18 West African sub-regional countries, Cameroon and Chad have resolved in Abuja.

This was at a two-day conference that had in attendance chief executives of meteorological agencies, dam managers and experts in weather and rainfall information administrators, where they resolved to share weather and rainfall information and imminent overflow of dams, release of water from dams and other natural flood disaster sources with a view to reducing their negative impact on neighbouring countries.
