Gambia: BAC Supports 'Education to End Poverty' Project

The management of Brikama Area Council (BAC) Monday donated cash and T-shirts to the 'Education to end poverty' project of the Association of Science Students of the University of The Gambia. The 'Education to end poverty' project is an initiative that creates the opportunity for students of the UTG to undertake a nationwide tour to rural communities to render service in the area of teaching and sensitization. The BAC officials handed over the donation to the chairperson of the Association's organising committee, Omar Jallow, at their offices in Brikama. Presenting the donation, the chief executive officer of the BAC, Tamba S. Kinteh, extolled the Council's partnership with students of the country's highest learning institution, saying the project will help to improve the country's development in the area of science. He also expressed hope that the project will impact significantly on the lives of the people at the grassroots. Kinteh finally assured the Association of the Council's support at all times.

Omar Jallow and Omar Jabang, both directors in the 'Education to end poverty' project, commended BAC for its support. They informed that the project seeks to create awareness about the significance of educating the girl child.
