THE government will soon introduce maternity waiting homes (rooms) to accommodate pregnant women who live too far away from health centres so they get regular check-ups before giving birth.
The acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Dr Donan Mmbando, said in Dar es Salaam that although 90 per cent of pregnant women attend clinics, only 51 per cent give birth in hospitals.
