Uganda: Joseph Lubega's Rival Arrives for Bout

THE stage is set for Joseph Lubega's world title fight following the arrival of his Egyptian opponent Hanny Atiyo. Action in the World Boxing Council (WBC) International light heavyweight contest will be at Kyadondo Rugby ground tomorrow.

The fight, due to have been held on June 1, was delayed because WBC's Houicine Houichi, who had been appointed to supervise the show was engaged elsewhere. Lately, Lubega has been training in Nakulabye where he was born, a move that excited residents of the area.

"I decided to take the training near the people who brought me up and I want to assure them and all Ugandans that I will crash Atiya," Lubega said.

Meanwhile, Sande Kizito has said home support will provide an added advantage in his bantam weight fight against Atef Mohammed of Egypt. They will battle for the African title on the same card in Kampala on Friday.

"This is a big to get the title at home," Kizito remarked.
