Nigeria: Congo-Bound Arms Cargo Detained, Released in Kano

Kano — A Russian made Antonov cargo suspected to be carrying weapons from Ukraine to restive Democratic Republic of Congo was detained during a stopover for crew rest at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) in Kano on Saturday night.

The aircraft was held shortly after arrival at MAKIA at around 9pm by about five trucks of armed soldiers, who kept it under watch until it was released several hours later yesterday, Daily Trust learnt.
