Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah praised his team following a 2-0 victory over Lesotho to go to top of group D after Zambia were held to a draw by Sudan in Ndola on Saturday.

The Black Stars edged Lesotho thanks to goals from Christian Atsu and Captain Asamoah Gyan.

how do you feel after win over Lesotho?

We knew that it was going to be tough playing them in their home ground. Luckily the players played according to our plans and in the end it worked out well.

Do you feel that your team has the advantage over Zambia to qualify for the next round of the qualifiers?

It is not yet over. There is so mush to play for in the remaining match. We should remain focused and do not get carried away.

How important was the match against Lesotho?

It was very important. We put everything aside to prepare for these crucial World Cup qualifiers because usual at this time of the year players are on holidays after the long football season.

It took your team some time to settle and get the rhythm?

Yes, that was part of our strategy for this match. We had to be patient in our build ups until we get what we wanted.

Are you happy that you have guided the team closer to the World Cup place in Brazil?

We are all happy that we have helped the team do well in this World Cup campaign. The challenge is not over yet, but we are happy with the achievement so far and we will keep working hard.

Was fatigue the main reason that you substituted star midfielder Sulley Muntari who did not look happy when he was taken off?

It was all part of the game and we felt he was not doing well at that time and needed fresh legs. We gave a chance to other players to improve the way the team was playing.

The ball is now in your court heading into the last game against Zambia. Are you happy now that you are top of this group?

The World Cup has always been an important tournament to the people of Ghana and we are very excited to be leading the group.
