Somalia: Russia Condemns Attack By Al-Shabaab in Somalia

Russia condemns the attack of militants from the Al-Shabaab Islamist group on UN's facilities in Somalia's capital Mogadishu. This is what Russia's permanent envoy to the UN Vitaly Churkin said at a meeting of the UN Security Council on Wednesday.

According to information from Somalia's authorities, a mine-studded lorry has exploded near a group of UN's facilities in Mogadishu. Then, the militants ran into the UN's territory and started a gun battle, during which, several other explosions took place.

As a result of this attack, 22 people were killed.

At present, UN's facilities in Mogadishu are being guarded by peacekeepers from the African Union's united forces and Somalia's government troops.
