Kenya: Woman Denies Killing Husband

A woman accused of stabbing her husband to death with a kitchen knife in Embu after allegedly giving their child alcohol was yesterday charged with manslaughter.

Lucy Wanjira Kariuki was arraigned before Embu Senior Principal magistrate Paul Biwott and charged with the murder of Kennedy Chomba Njiru.

She was allegedly killed him on June 3 at kianjokoma Village in Embu North District. The woman denied the charges and Kariuki released her on sh300, 000.

Biwott instructed prosecutor Frank Mnene to supply her with copies of prosecution witnesses' statements and any other document he intends to use against her. The case will be heard on July 19.
