Somalia: Tensions Escalate As Galmudug and Ahlu Suna Order the Arrest of Hassan Dahir Who Escaped From Alshabab

Sheikh Abdiwali Diriye who is among the top leaders of Ahlu Suna wal Jama'a group has warned Himan and Heb administration who he accused of giving refuge to the runaway Alshabab leader.

Sheikh Abdiwali added that Ahlu Suna have put in place special troops which will arrest Sheikh Hassan Dahir Aweys if he is not handed over to the authorities.

The president of Galmudug regional administration Abdi Hassan Awale warned that Hassan Dahir Aweys situation might spark conflict in the central regions of Somalia.

He urged Himan administration to hand over the Sheikh to the government of Somalia.

Hassan Dahir Aways who was the previous leader of Hizbul Islam fighters merged with Alshabab fighters After Hizbul Islam divided.

However the Sheikh opposed Ahmed Godane who is one of Alshabab top leaders and accused him of dictatorship last month. This was followed by the internal wars between Alshabab fighters in Barawe town.

Mr. Dahir Aweys fled from Barawe town to central Somalia which is ruled by clannish administrations which are pro government.
